Translated Interview of Danila with Glamour Magazine+BTS Photos/Videos
I find it easier to play the villain in that sense. He has cynicism, brutality, wicked irony, he has no sympathy. All of this is easier to play than sincerity, honesty and love. Oddly enough an actor should spare no effort so that these qualities can be credible, for such character to seem alive. But indeed everything depends on the script. When a good scenario falls into the hands of the artist, it’s like a present. Because today an interesting living history is a big rarity. It happens that a producer offers the artist the role of villain, the person begins to read the script, and it’s just stupid and boring.
Who is more interesting for you in life? Everyone says that women love bastards. Maybe it should be?
I ask this question, but in fact we are so arranged that a lot of the good and bad are mixed in us. Perhaps we are interested to see the same complex characters in movies, in life. We want to see real people who we can find in all manifestations.
Will you allow yourself to be bad sometimes?
That means authorize? There are moments when I manifest myself, to put it mildly, not in the most correct and beautiful way. But this is understandable from the point of view of a living person. But this is almost always inadmissible.
You took part in “Vampire Academy”. The blockbuster which will be released very soon. What are your impressions from the American film production?
It is a powerful industry, professional and very talented. This is one of the superpowers in the cinema world. Americans produce a tremendous amount of good films and TV series every year. But half of them doesn’t reach us, unfortunately. The experience was, for me, not simple in many aspects because it was still my first role in English. I relaxed only when i was alone at the hotel. But I had to prepare for the next day of filming. Our shooting lasted for twelve, sometimes fourteen hours a day for a few months. But it was an absolutely amazing experience in all aspects: in the professional sense and in dealing with wonderful actors and filmmakers.

Richelle Mead talks VA Adaptation and reveals 'Silver Shadows' Cover
Vampire-novel aficionados know best-selling author Richelle Mead is the writer to follow for zippy, romantic, action-packed novels about teenage vampires. No, the vampires in her "Vampire Academy"
series don't sparkle in sunlight, but they do deal with a fascinating
monarchy, complicated caste system, and the ongoing threat posed from a
bloodthirsty group of killer vampires. Plus, her characters still deal
with all of the usual body image, relationship and self-esteem issues
adolescents – mortal or immortal -- deal with in high school (albeit a
special academy for the vampire elite and their half-human, half-vampire
bodyguards).
Mead's popular boarding school vampire series hits the big screen next year, starring Lucy Fry, Zoey Deutch, and Russian heartthrob Danila Kozlovsky;
to get you caught up to the speed before the first installment hits
theaters next year, we spoke with Mead about the transition from page to
screen -- and have the exclusive cover reveal to "Silver Shadows," the
next installment in the "Bloodlines" spin-off series.
Moviefone: I know you didn't write with specific actors in mind, but does the cast match what you think the characters look like?
Richelle: The leads are so spot-on with what I had in my head. Dimitri especially is a great choice; I love that they cast a Russian actor to play him. It's perfect; we're going to have a genuine accent. He's the real deal. He's so very handsome, but he's also so nice. It's easy to forget he turns into this hard, bad-ass warrior guy on screen, because when you're hanging out with him off-camera, he's so personable and sweet to everyone.
Any examples of those changes we can expect?
The opening when Rose and Dimitri first meet is not verbatim exactly what happens in the book. It's not radically different either -- like on top of a building and Dimitri all of a sudden parachutes in, or anything that weird or completely made up. It is visually more interesting than the book, and that's all I can say! It's little changes like that that will read better for the screen. I hope readers will agree with me.
So we know what the readers want to see – kissing! – but what scenes are you most excited to see come to life?
Well, all of them, obviously! Definitely the ending. The ending is really action-packed, and I'm just so excited to see when suddenly all of the puzzle pieces adding up throughout the story finally come together. It's like dominoes, and everything starts happening really quickly. I'm excited to see that play out. And again that opening scene: After seeing snippets of it, I'm so excited to see the way it kicks off the movie.
