First VA TV Spot aired last night at FX channel

~ The US VAFans, had an amazing surprise last night as while trying to watch the scary American Horror Story, they saw a VA promo video.
~ Most of the fans had a major heart attack after this preview.

~ The TV Spot is similar to the trailer we were given with an extra scene of Christian and Rose.

What was the casting process like for VA?

 I’d gotten the script and I thought this was really cool and it’s a vampire film, and the character Natalie is pretty awesome with the way things turn out for her. So I Skyped with the casting director, and we put myself on tape through Skype and I thought this was weird because of the noise and the quality was just not good at all. So then Mark wanted to Skype with me, he was in London and I was filming ‘Bonnie & Clyde’, and I had someone from production come and help me set up a camera and she read with me while Mark observed and that was it. I didn’t read with anybody and there was no audition in person.

 For the few people in the world who don’t know about Vampire Academy could you explain how your character fits into it?

 My character is Natalie Dashkov, she is Victor Dashkov’s looney geeky crazy gossip loving daughter, so when Lissa and Rose escaped the Academy and are brought back they befriend her because they want to stay off the social network and clearly Natalie is not a part of that. So they befriend her, and that’s all I can really say.

What’s the scene that you’ve read in the book that you’re most excited to film? 

 I’ve already filmed the scenes that I was most looking forward to filming, but I can’t talk about that I’m sorry.

 Your character sounds a lot different from what you’re usually playing, but just how are they different?

 Natalie is very spastic, and geeky and just socially awkward and clearly Hayley (Modern Family) is none of those things. It was fun I found a lot of things to bring to Hayley, certain twitches that she has and just small character things that I don’t think anyone will notice but I had such a fun time with a character that Richelle has brilliantly thought up.

Vampire Academy Set Recap with Fangirlish

Our friend Andrew went to the set of Vampire Academy. We told you we would be bringing you an interview every friday – but read Andrew’s recap of his visit so you can know a little more about the set.~Fangirlish 

In a secret location in London, a movie’s being filmed (well, it is at the time of writing this. By the time you guys read this, it will have been wrapped and have been in post-production for a good few months).

That film is Blood Sisters. Or, as most of you would know and call it, Vampire Academy, the brainchild of Richelle Mead.

 Several sites were allowed to go on site, interview a few people and see how the film was made. And I got to go on behalf on Fangirlish. So, thank you Fangirlish for asking to go on your behalf and thank you to Jeremy who suggested me in the first place. I hope I didn’t/haven’t let you guys down.

 Now, before I go any further, I have to say something. Well, two things really. The first is that I have never go to a movie set before. Ever. So I was overwhelmed, very star-struck and wishing I had eight more eyes to take everything in. The second is that there are one or two things I can’t ACTUALLY tell you. Was asked to keep these points secret because… well, as River Song would say, “spoilers”.

VASet Visit Report with Hypable

‘Vampire Academy’ set visit report – How mean can vampire girls be?

Earlier this year, Hypable visited the set of Vampire Academy for a behind the scenes look at the eagerly anticipated young adult novel-turned-movie arriving in 2014. This was our opportunity to speak to the cast and crew and find out for ourselves just how progress was going on one of our absolute favorite fandoms.

 The cast were filming for a total of 8 weeks (in roughly 20 different locations), and we caught up with them on week 6 during an on-location set in the heart of London. The scenic University College London (UCL) provides the backdrop for St. Vladimir’s Academy and we were lucky enough to witness several scenes being filmed within this stunning atmosphere.

Although rarely illustrative when watching a movie for the first time, the filming process is repetitive and arduous; each scene is shot, and re-shot, and re-re-shot, then again in different camera angles. The mark of good filmmaking is attention to detail and the most striking impression we were left with after departing the set was the sheer meticulousness of every scene. The director, Mark Waters (Mean Girls), quite clearly has a very precise vision in bringing the story to life and that is to remain as loyal to Richelle Mead’s world as much as possible.

The Vampire Academy fandom is large, vibrant, enthusiastic and protective of the stories that they have taken to heart; the cast and crew seem all too aware of this and delivering a movie that above all else, is meaningful to the fandom community seems to be the overarching ambition of the team. This is an admirable endeavour and certainly left us feeling reassured.

NEW Interview and Photos of Richelle Mead BTS of VA with Yahoo

We can't even imagine what it must be like to create a whole supernatural world, publish a series of books about it, and then see it in real life. But such was the case for Richelle Mead when she stepped onto the set of "Vampire Academy" in London earlier this year.

 After six books in the bestselling series, the author knows the characters backwards and forwards. So what would meeting Zoey Deutch and the rest of the actors who would be playing them be like?

 "The cast was so friendly and outgoing, and within 15 minutes of me arriving, nearly all of them stopped by to say hello and introduce themselves," Mead said as she described the photos from her visit which she shared with Yahoo Movies exclusively. "The picture of me with Zoey and Cameron [Monaghan] was taken on the first day of my set visit. They were filming in a university lecture hall, and I got to take a seat right there with the students."

 "The day she came, we were shooting this scene with everybody in the cast," Deutch, who plays the main character, Rose Hathaway, told us during New York Comic-Con. "When I met her, I was so shocked by how unbelievably beautiful she is. I just embarrassed myself. I kept talking and she's very composed and slightly quiet, so when that happens for me, I spiral out of control. Luckily, I recently got to go to dinner with her and hopefully prove that I'm not as much of a freak as she thought I was."

 One of the other highlights of Mead's visit to the set was getting her own official canvas producer's chair.

 "[This] photo was taken on the last day of my two-day visit," she recalled. "I didn't actually believe they'd have a chair for me since my visit was so short, but they did!
" Of course, they weren't all totally ready to whip out the coveted seat.

 "It took a fair amount of searching for it (and all the other cast chairs) because the crew moved around filming that day and kept taking the chairs with them," she explained. "Finding this reward at the end of our 'scavenger hunt' was definitely worth it though."


"The first thing I asked [Richelle] was what it was like … to see your imagination made physical and real," star Lucy Fry, who plays Rose's BFF, Lissa, told Yahoo Movies during New York Comic-Con. "She said that the main difference was that everything was so much grander.

 "I think she was quite overwhelmed on her day on set to see that everything had come to life and see everyone standing in front of her."

 "Vampire Academy" arrives in movie theaters on February 14, 2014.

Aww I'm so glad that today I will do about our beloved Pyromaniac. Okay so I will have to admit that Dom is one of my favourite members of our Vampire Academy cast. I will start by saying that I came to know Dom, when they announced the official cast members and I was really curious to search our Pyro-Boy. When I did, sooner or later I became a strong supporter cause pretty much Dom is talented and amazing person.
